St. Peter Souvenir Historical Apostle Spoons. Wonderfully unique Catholic gifts and souvenirs for yourself or a loved one!

St. Peter (?-64 A.D.)was a fisherman who became one of the apostles of jesus Christ. He was a leader of the early Christian community in Jerusalem and is a prominent figure in the New Testament of the Bible. Peter's original name was Simon but Jesus renamed him Peter, which means rock in Greek. Peter denied Jesus three times, but was commissioned again after the resurrection.

Apostle spoons received their name because each is surmounted by a small figure of one of the Apostles bearing the symbol associated with him. They were made in England in great numbers until commonwealth times (1654). A favorite christening gift in Tudor and early Stuart times. The earliest English Apostle spoons were made between 1460-75.

Spoon is 6 1/2" long, made of pewter.

Comes with St. Peter Postcard and Informative Certificate.
