The Celtic Cross. Treasured spiritual gifts and Christian
crosses from long ago.
The Celts dominated large part of Europe from the third century B.C. In Britain, the Celtic culture would be subsumed by the Romans, but their language, religion, and art would have a lasting influence on subsequent cultures. The Celtic culture left such an indelible mark on Europe that Celtic enclaves survived through the subsequent Roman occupation and into medieval times. Celtic styles of art and music are still influencing modern cultures in Europe over 2,000 years later.
The cross is best know as the supreme symbol of the Christian faith, cross symbolism itself is much older than Christianity. Cross designs engraved or painted on flat pebbles have been found dating from 10,000 B.C.
1 1/4" diameter pewter Celtic cross with blue stone in center. Free Rome Postcard included.
